ICC Executive Council meets in Nuuk

Today, January 13, 2015 the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) new Executive Committee held its first meeting in Nuuk after the ICC General Assembly in July 2014 in Canada. At the meeting, which lasts until Friday January 15, the Board will, based on the Kitigaaryuit declaration, which is the outcome document from Canada, discuss the international delegation of tasks between the regional offices in Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Chukotka. It is the ICC Greenland President Hjalmar Dahl who is hosting the Executive Council meeting in Nuuk. Hjalmar Dahl says that after the regional offices have reported their country reports the Executive Council will amongst others prioritize the nine main points of the declaration, which are: the Arctic Council and other international work, Environmental management, Shipping and fisheries, Sustainable economic development, Inuit health and well being, Food security, Communication, Education and language, as well as Traditional knowledge and science.
