January 24, 2013: ICC is fully supporting the whaling policy of Greenland
“The ICC executive council fully supports the right of Greenland to indigenous whaling based on the needs and thus supports ensuring the need of the population in this way,” says ICC Chair Aqqaluk Lynge.

Efter en uges langtrukne forhandlinger, ofte til sent ud på natten, blev over 140 landes repræsentanter enige om teksten til en ny konvention om kviksølv lørdag den 19. januar kl. 7 om morgenen i Geneve, Schweitz.
April 16, 2013: Recommendations to oil exploration
I foråret 2012 bestilte Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) og Oceans North Canada en teknisk gennemgang fra en uafhængig tredjepart af Cairn PLC (Cairn)’s 2011 offshore olieefterforsknings-boreprogram i Vestgrønland. Den endelige rapport "Project Review: Cairn Energy’s 2011 Offshore Drilling in West Greenland" er nu tilgængelig på hjemmesiden.
May 15, 2013: Inuit at Ministerial Meeting in Kiruna
On May 15 the Arctic Council will hold its Ministerial Meeting in Kiruna, the northernmost city in Sweden. About 120 representatives of the eight Arctic States and six Permanent Participant organizations will be present at this meeting, as well as observers from NGO’s and other states.

June 10, 2013: ICC to preparatory meeting of WCIP in Alta
About 600 representatives of indigenous peoples from 7 world regions are beginning a conference today in the largest Saami city Alta in Northern Norway. This is a preparatory conference for the UN World Conference on Indigenous Peoples in 2014.
June 14, 2013: Offshore Drilling in West Greenland, Relief Well Planning
Without the two drilling rigs, same season relief well requirement, an out of control well could spill oil throughout an entire winter and spring, causing unacceptable damage to the marine environment, including fishing stocks and marine mammals.

September 27, 2013: The Ice bridge
The Pikialarsorsuaq/North Water Polynya Cooperation Workshop concluded on October 25, 2013. Over 20 participants, including regional Canadian and Greenlandic representatives from communities that surround Pikialarsorsuaq/the North Water Polynya, met at Inuit Circumpolar Council – Greenland’s (ICC-Greenland) office in Nuuk to discuss the importance of this region.
September 13, 2013: ICC at CAFF meeting
The Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) Board (one of six working groups under the auspice of the Arctic Council) met in Yellowknife, Canada Sept. 10-12, 2013. This was the first board meeting under the Canadian chairmanship. ICC has been part of the board and a regular participant of CAFF activities for the past almost three years.
September 24, 2013: ICC at AMAP meeting
The Arctic Council working group Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) met in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands on September 16-18, 2013. Eva Kruemmel from ICC Canada and Parnuna Egede from ICC Greenland participated in the meeting. One of the major topics on the agenda was the Adaptation Actions for a Changing Arctic (AACA).
October 21, 2013: There are still indigenous peoples in Greenland
The day that Greenland becomes independent there may still be indigenous peoples in Greenland, if the specific group considers itself as a people. There is no national politicians that under international law can pre-determine if the Inuit population is an indigenous people of Greenland or not after the Self-government establishment or in the case of Greenland's exercise of autonomy. This must ultimately be up to the courts or international bodies that monitor the conventions or where representatives of the Greenland Inuit population are represented.
October 23, 2013: Internationalt møde berørt af Udenrigsministerens sygdom
Udenrigsminister Villy Søvndal skulle have holdt tale ved slutningen af mødet i dag. Imidlertid blev han ramt af en blodprop i går. Heldigvis blev han bragt på hospital med det samme og blev straks opereret. Det forventes at han kan genoptage arbejdet så snart han er rask.
